Pool Closing & Winterization in Denver
Colorado freeze preparation built for Front Range swings from 60°F to below zero. We blow out the lines, drain the equipment, install freeze protection, and secure the cover - and we won't claim any closing eliminates all freeze risk, because Colorado weather doesn't work that way.

Who this service is for
Best for every Denver pool owner who needs the plumbing and equipment protected before freezing nights arrive.
Why Colorado winterization is different
Front Range weather can swing from 60°F to -10°F almost overnight. Any water left in underground plumbing, pump housings, or heater manifolds can freeze, expand, and crack expensive equipment. A proper closing evacuates that water and installs protection.
We don't claim a closing eliminates all freeze risk - extreme, unusual conditions and post-closing tampering can still cause damage. We reduce the risk to the real minimum.
0What a closing visit covers
Closing is built around getting water out of the plumbing and equipment and protecting what's left.
Winterization scope
- Water level lowered to appropriate levels if necessary
- High-volume air blow-out of suction, return, and cleaner lines
- Installation of rubber expansion plugs and skimmer guards
- Draining of pumps, filters, heaters, and chlorinator vessels
- Non-toxic pool antifreeze and a winterizing chemical kit
- Safety cover securely fastened and tensioned
Timing - not a single date
There's no universal closing date - it depends on the forecast and your equipment. Close too early and you lose swim time; too late and you risk a freeze. We watch the long-range forecast with you and recommend a window, not a fixed day.
2Pool closing vs. spa winterization
A pool closing and a spa winterization aren't the same job. A portable hot tub that stays running through winter doesn't get winterized the way a pool does; a spa that will sit unused needs its own drain and protection. Tell us what you're closing so we do the right work.
3What to do if a freeze arrives before your booking
If freezing weather is coming and your closing isn't yet scheduled, run the pump to keep water moving, lower the water level if you can, and call us - moving water is harder to freeze, and we can prioritize an at-risk closing. Don't attempt a full DIY blow-out without the right equipment; an incomplete blow-out can leave water where it matters most.
4What winterization does not guarantee
We don't guarantee against freeze damage caused by extreme conditions, cover collapse, or tampering after we leave. We do the work to the standard that gives your equipment the best real-world protection through a Front Range winter.
5Before your closing, share
- Whether you're closing a pool, a spa, or both
- Your cover type and condition
- Anything unusual from the season - leaks, equipment faults
- Your preferred timing window so we can watch the forecast with you
